For those who feel they have mastered the writing fundamentals, this advanced writing workshop delves deeper into the writing process and the writing state of mind. This exercise-intensive workshop deconstructs the writing process, and analyzes its two distinct parts: the art and the craft. Participants will work to expand their thinking and even overwrite as a means of allowing big ideas to break through. Then they’ll learn to harshly judge their work. Exercises will teach them to edit to make language strong, and to distill their good thinking to its essence.

Outcome: This course will help writers open up creatively so they can generate bigger, better ideas faster. Then it will give them the tools to best express their thinking concisely so their ideas shine.

Writers who want a personalized critique of their work may send in a writing sample (up to three pages) before the training workshops. After reviewing the writer’s work, Jameson will meet with the writer for 20-30 minutes to discuss his or her writing, then work with the writer to improve areas of weakness. Writers will leave with written comments on their work, relevant exercises and resources as needed.
