WRITE RIGHT Seminars
All seminars are either one full day with exercises, or one half day without.
- Grammar Review for Those Who
Forgot – or Weren’t Listening
- Writing Workshop I: The Six
Deadly Sins of Business Writing and Their Solutions
- Writing Workshop II:
Writing as Art & Craft
- Giving Editors (and Readers) What They Want
How to think like an editor and write like a reader, those are just two of the
topics this seminar addresses. Writers will also learn what editors today are
calling the “New Lead” and how to write it, as well as what editors at a recent
meeting of the American Society of Feature Editors said they were looking for in
copy today. This seminar is for anyone who wants to write copy that people will
actually read. Participants will also learn how to take a fresh approach to an
old topic. Individual and interactive exercises reinforce all concepts.
Outcome: Participants will learn to create copy that editors – and
readers -- really want. They will also discover the latest journalistic
techniques to create copy that will keep readers' fingers off the delete key,
and get even non-readers hooked into their stories.
- Coaching Workshop: Building
Better Writers
- Custom Tutorials
Writers who want a personalized critique of their work may send in a writing
sample (up to three pages) before the training workshops. After reviewing the
writer’s work, Jameson will meet with the writer for 20-30 minutes to discuss
his or her writing, then work with the writer to improve areas of weakness.
Writers will leave with written comments on their work, relevant exercises and
resources as needed.
